PHYSICAL, COGNITIVE, COMMUNICATION & CREATIVE
To advance physical and intellectual competence in the children, we plan various activities that are developmentally appropriate. We are flexible in the schedule to the changing needs of the classroom. We give the children opportunities to express themselves and ask questions that stimulate their curiosity and help develop their senses.
While outdoors, we initiate physical activities to encourage the children to utilize their large motor skills. We never force the children to participate, realizing that each child is an individual with different interest and limitations. By observing them at play, we can determine if a child has mastered a certain skill.
We realized the importance of repetition, however, we are aware when the children are interested and ready for new experiences. We ask open ended questions to stimulate and help them imagine, explore and speak freely of their ideas.
Food tasting and preparation are daily activities for children of all ages. Children actively participate in the preparation at all times. This helps them develop their cognitive and small motor skills. We assist those who might be having difficulty mastering certain tasks.
When a child creates a drawing. We assist them in labeling their art work. This helps the child make a connection between the spoken and written word.
